The 1996 Limerick Senior Hurling Championship was the 102nd staging of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Limerick County Board in 1887.[1]
Patrickswell entered the championship as the defending champions.[2]
The final was played on 3 November 1996 at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick, between Patrickswell and Adare, in what was their third meeting in the final overall and a first meeting in the final in three years. Patrickswell won the match by 1–12 to 0–06 to claim their 15th championship title overall and a second title in succession.[3][4]
Patrickswell's Gary Kirby was the championship's top scorer with 9–42.
