Soona (Sinhala: සෝණා), is a 2025 Sri Lankan Sinhalese action thriller film directed by Shan Jayarathna and produced by Wasantha Kumaravila for Mahitharu Productions.[2][3] It stars Wasantha Kumaravila in titular role, where Miona de Silva made debut cinema acting with Maureen Charuni, Anuradha Mallawarachchi, Pathum Vidanagamage and Gavinda Navaratne made supportive roles.[4]
The film received mixed reviews from critics.[5]

Production and release
This is the maiden cinema direction by Shan Jayarathna, who previously directed three television serials Akshi, Main Character and critically acclaimed Veeduru Thira.[2] The film is produced by lead actor Wasantha Kumaravila for Mahitharu Productions[7] and screenplay co-written by Priyanath Vidanapathirana and Nilanka Alexander. Tharindu Arachchige is the assistant director and Vishwa Prabuddha is the second assistant director.[4][3]
Chanaka Sanjeewa handled both cinematography and lighting,[4] whereas Sihal Weerasekara is the assistant cinematographer, Amith Suranga with camera focusing and Akalanka Herath with second assistant cinematography. Gihan Prabath Tennakoon made editing, Nalaka Siriwardena made art direction and Sashika Ruwan Marasinghe handled sound management. Lead actor Wasantha Kumaravila is the stunt director, Tharanga Harsha Kumara is the choreographer, and Chaminda Jayawardena made the visual effects.[2][3]
Color coordination done by Ananda Bandara, sound editing by Lakshitha Fonseka, production management by Dilan Roshan, drone operation by Madhuranga Perera and still photography done by Supun Staffin.[4] Post production of the film was completed in Sarasavi Studios. Vihanga Muthuthanthrige is the music director, where Chameera Sampath made songwriting, lyrics by Asalya Ranaweera and Hansi Manchanayake. Erandi Madushika, Sudini Sindavi, Thisara Jayasinghe and Vihanga Muthuthanthrige made background vocals.[2][3]
Release
The trailer and songs of the film were launched at the Nawaloka Auditorium. The film was released on 9 May 2025.[7][8][9][10]
