ネオチネア・ラクテア（蘭）

ガレアとは、花の突出した兜のような形をした部分で^{[ 1 ] [ 2 ]} 、生殖器官を降雨、風、あるいは有害な外敵から保護します。ガレアは、1枚または複数の花弁または萼片が融合または折り畳まれて構成されています。ガレアの名称は、ローマ兵の兜を意味する同じ言葉に由来しています。^{[ 3 ]}

種小名galeatus (-a-um)、galeiformis(-e)、galeritus(-a-um) 、またはgalericulatus(-a-um)は、学名に見られる^{[ 4 ]} 。これらは、本種の顕著なヘルメット型の特徴を示す。この特徴を反映して命名された属がいくつかあり、 Galeandra、Galearia、Galearisなどがある^{[ 5 ]}。
