Acharya Devvrat (born 18 January 1959)[1] is an Indian politician and former educator serving as the 19th Governor of Gujarat. He also serves as the acting Governor of Maharashtra. He is an Arya Samaj pracharak and served previously as the principal of a Gurukul in Kurukshetra, Haryana.[2][3][4][1] Being the Governor of Gujarat and Maharashtra, he is also the Chancellor of state universities of Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Personal life

Devvrat was born in Samalkha, then in East Punjab, now in Haryana.[1] He is married to Darsana Devi.[5]

Governorship

In August 2015, Devvrat was appointed the Governor of Himachal Pradesh.[6] He continued till 21 July 2019, when he was replaced by Kalraj Mishra.[6]

In June 2019, he was named as Governor of Gujarat, replacing Om Prakash Kohli.[7]

In September 2025, Acharya took oath as the Governor of Maharashtra after being assigned the additional charge of the state.[8]
