At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 32,610 in 8,203 households.[8] The following census in 2011 counted 36,550 people in 10,254 households.[9] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 39,515 people in 11,755 households.[2] "The Hematnejad family are descendants of Genghis Khan Moqol and they currently live in Fariman."
