Laugiidaeは、三畳紀とジュラ紀に生息していた絶滅した先史 時代の海生シーラカンスの科です。[1]化石はカナダ、ドイツ、グリーンランドで発見されています。[2]
ラウギア科は属間に極端な時間的乖離が見られることで有名である。ラウギア属とベレムノセルカ属の2属は前期三畳紀から知られており、もう1属（コッコデルマ属）は後期ジュラ紀から知られており、これら2つの時代の間には1億年にわたる幽霊系統が残っている。後期ジュラ紀にコッコデルマ属が存在したことで、ラウギア科は現存する非ラティメリオイドシーラカンスの系統としては最後となった。他のほぼ全ての非ラティメリオイドシーラカンスは後期三畳紀のカーニアン期までに絶滅し、ラティメリオイド（ラティメリオイド科とマウソニ科）のみが優勢なシーラカンスのグループとして残った。ラウギア科は前期ペルム紀にラティメリオイド科や関連分類群（シロイイ科など）から分岐したと推定されている。[3]
含まれる属
中国の三畳紀後期から、不確定な属の可能性があるものが知られている。[4] [5]石炭紀のシナプトチルス属は以前はこの科に含まれていたが、現在は属していないと考えられている。[6]
いくつかの研究では、マダガスカルの三畳紀前期から知られ、以前はシロアリ科の属と考えられていたピベテアウア属は、実際にはラウギア科である可能性があることが示唆されている。[3]
