TAAS （テキサス学力評価）は、 1991年から2002年までテキサス州で使用された3番目の標準テストであり、 2003年から2013年まではTAKSテストに置き換えられました。[1] TAASは3年生、5年生、7年生、9年生、11年生で使用されました。卒業には11年生レベルの合格が必要でしたが、再試験の機会が何度も提供されていました。TAASの導入は、卒業に州が義務付けた試験の合格が義務付けられた初めてのケースでした。TAASに合格できない生徒には、多くの代替ルートが用意されていました。
TAASは、読解、作文、数学の3つの能力分野を測る試験です。数学と読解セクションは多肢選択式で、作文セクションは一連の設問に基づいてエッセイを書く形式です。
2002年、研究者のジェレ・コンフリーとデイヴィッド・カレホはTAASを批判する論文を発表しました。彼らは、「指導上の意思決定のために教師に提供されるデータ」が「公表されているテスト構造」と必ずしも一致していないことを発見しました。[2] : 549–550

Our research was focused on examining whether the data provided to teachers for instructional decision-making were valid for this purpose. We worked to extend the analysis of the data in relation to the published test structure, and found that there were a number of problems in reconciling the results.
